My presentation was a formative overview of what I have gathered so far, displaying the initial brand identity, trends and competitive landscape. I am going to go through a few of my slides and talk about the feedback I was given and the go on to discuss how I will evolve the project onward to improve.

THE FEEDBACK:

Firstly, It was noted that my visualisation of the trends could be more engaging, as I did just put a couple images on the slides and mostly rely on what I was saying over them. As well as this, I was told to also reevaluate the trend of health and wellness and consider some broader trends which influence the aesthetics.

THE RESOLUTION:

I think there is a lot I could do here to take notice of the session with Tim Rundle to say more with my visuals. I think some ways I could do this is possibly by utilising the cartogram structure to visually show more of a journey from driver to impact on the market rather than the simplified form I produced on the powerpoint. I will also conduct more research on the trend environment to find more relevant trends to the brand and the market, the may be in the form of macro or micro.

THE FEEDBACK:

I was told that my values, personality and proposition fit well and worked for the brand with clear and concise words for each, however my essence needs improving as here I have just written 3 words whereas it should be more of a phrase to sum up the brand. The aesthetics and visual identity of my whole presentation also need to be improved on as at this point I hadn't settled on a clear overall 'look' and instead only had a mood board to show the direction I want to go.

THE RESOLUTION:

Moving forward I will develop my essence further my aiming to sum up the brand in a short phrase or sentence, I will begin to try and do this by researching other brand essences and understanding on a better level how to do this. I will also push further on my mood-board and start to try and pick out elements which I want to take further, such as nailing down a colour scheme.

FEEDBACK:

With the consumer, I was told it was good that I attempted to show him in a different way by producing a flat-lay, however, the image of the man and the name attached took away from this slightly.

RESOLUTION:

I will continue to try and produce my work as visually as possible rather than relying on words, with the pen portrait in particular, I will look into archetypes to name them as this can be much more telling about who they and what they represent in one simple word, as well as being a good tool for grouping them together easily and being able to differentiate between primary and secondary.

FEEDBACK:

With the perceptual map, it was again noted that I could perhaps show this more visually and in a different way, as well as also being told to consider my axis of 'old-school vs modern' as this can be open to interpretation.

RESOLUTION:

With the visuals, at this point I am unsure as how I can make it more visual or present the data in a different way, and so going forward I recognise that I will need to ask tutors for advice on ways to do this as well as research other peoples methods to give me ideas. In terms of the names of the axis, I actually disagree and think that they work well for the brand and are fitting to position the brand effectively, however, going forward I understand that this has potential to be open for interpretation, and so I will edit the name to 'traditional vs modern' and also ensure that within my analysis I explain my reasoning behind them to limit misunderstanding. ------- Overall, although I only really showed the negatives within this post, there were also a lot of positives and I am happy with the work I have produced so far. I think by taking on the advice of the tutors I will be able to move forward positively in this project and develop work which is of a much higher standard with plenty of research and consideration backing it up. I will also make sure to continue to think critically about my work as this is the only way I will be able to improve and weed out any mistakes.
