#PROPERshave

In my last post I toyed around with the idea of incorporating the slogan 'discover a proper shave' and even went on to look at the idea of adapting it for different formats, such as the 'your guide to a proper shave' on the leaflets. This idea stuck with me and I have ended up keeping it and plan to incorporate into my communications for Beard & Blade.

Over the past few days I have spent time thinking about various ways in which it could be applied, obviously we already have 'discover a proper shave' and 'your guide to a proper shave', but I thought there could be more. I ended up coming up with 'win a proper shave' and 'show us your proper shave', with these four phrases together I think there is definitely potential for a strong set of communications revolving around it as they each serve different purposes and could be utilised to increase the brands consumer base, encourage engagement, or gain loyalty if used in the correct way. With this in mind, I further tried to visualise this by creating mock ups to see how they might potentially be used, and along with this I also came to the conclusion that it would work well as a hashtag - #PROPERshave - with the word 'proper' being in capital letters for emphasis, as I have been recently been looking into the power of the hashtag in relation to my communications strategy and so I believe this will be effective.

These four mock ups show how they might be used across channels, considering the online with social media sites such as Instagram, Facebook and YouTube for ways of connecting with audiences and allowing the brand to be discoverable through the use of the hashtag and getting people involved at the same time. The offline has also been considered through it's use of the packaging and leaflet designs in the last post, as well as the final mock up of 'discover a proper shave' as seen here, which is a sort of poster which has potential to be applied in magazines, within shops etc.

I believe that this exploration into the phrase has been successful, and I am happy with the direction the brand is headed, as everything is coming together for a true representation of the brand across everything from products to message conveyed within communications. To develop this further for my report writing, I will do additional research around the topic of hashtags as well as into various channels of communications to fully be able to connect with the consumer, know where they are interacting and make sure the brand is utilising these places to their advantage for optimal success.
